Dollar Tree Lemon Plates Table Setting

I remember seeing these lemon plates online last year on Youtube haul videos.  I seacrhed all over, and I was only able to find the bowls and mugs to purchase.  I just love the yellow and green color combination!  I am not sure why, but I, and many other people seem to really be fans of this design.  I have never particularly loved lemons before, but something about these plates I find beautiful.

I was very happy when I saw the lemon plates were going to be available again this year. This time I was able to pucchase a set of four dinner, and salad places.   I just checked on the Dollar Tree website, and was sad to see it appears they are already out of stock again.  Hopefully they will be back again next year for anyone that wanted them and missed out.

All of the crystal, and the glass butterdish were purchased at thrift stores.  I like usinig clear glass and crystal pieces because they all go very well with each other, and pretty much any other dishes you will use.

The big, beautiful roses were ourchased from Walmart for $2 each.  The yare also available in red.  I love how large and realistic they are.   The crystal vase was also only $2 at a thrift store.  I thought the little hearts on it were a pretty, romantic touch.

The gold candleholder is one of two I found at Habitat for Humanity.  Here, I placed one of my lemon bowls on top of it and am using it as a fruit bowl for decor.

It's been forever since I last posted, so I decided to start again in what is my favorite season for decorating.  Fall! In this tablescape, I have a plaid tablecloth I recently purchased from Dollar General.  I love the addition of the blue in the fall colors of the plaid.  It is somewhat unexpected.  ' The bright orange, glass pumpkin was a HomeGoods find last month.  The wooden board it is on is from Ross.  All of these items were around only $10 each! The stack of plates were thrifted.  I loved the neutral look of them, and I think they worked well for these setting, even though they have snow flakes on them. And I almost forgot to mention!  The cookie is from Walmart bakery! View this post on Instagram A post shared by Porches and Petals (@porchesandpetals)

Park Lane Glassware by Colony

This glassware was made by "Colony." "Colony" was one of a series of companies that produced glassware in the early 19th Century until the mid-20th Century. Those interested in the history of these companies can find it on various other websites, including Ohio Glass . NOTE: This vintage glassware is not to be confused with Park Lane "full lead crystal" ware by Mikasa . Libertad and I discovered Park Lane glassware at secondhand stores early in our relationship. I believe that some blue glass pieces of it were among my earliest purchases of glassware in San Antonio, Texas, where Libertad and I were married in 2009.  For our first Valentine's Day together, in 2008, she took me to a store in Shockoe Bottom, in Richmond, Virginia; I think it was La Diff . I decided to buy a set of four, handblown glass tumblers, allegedly made in Mexico. They have what appear to be drops of blood all over them, blown into the glass. I thought they looked appropriate for V...

Bedroom Before and After

This post has been such a long time coming!  Today, I am finally posting the before and after of the bedroom renovation of our home. The first photos I am sharing are of the room when we first purchased the home.  We ended up not changing much at all in this room except for the dirty, old carpet.  We removed all of that, and also the particle board that had started to decay and fall apart.  It was a lot of back-breaking work, and we ended up taking many weeks to complete just the removal.   I think this wood paneling was probably put in place back in the 1970's.  I am not a huge fan of the dark wood, but I just could not bring myself to paint over something that still looked brand new, as far as wear, after more than 40 years.  Perhaps some day I will end up painting it, but we still have far too much to work on in the rest of the house to bother at this time.    Here it is!  The next picture (belo...
